The University of Missouri men’s basketball program has solidified its position as a national powerhouse, officially signing Jason Crowe Jr., the nation’s premier scorer in the Class of 2026, on Thursday. This addition cements the Tigers’ claim to the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, as ranked by ESPN.
Crowe, a consensus five-star recruit, is considered one of the top prospects in the nation, ranking as high as No. 3 by 247 Sports and No. 5 by ESPN. He represents the highest-ranked recruit for Mizzou since NBA Lottery Pick and Champion Michael Porter Jr. joined the program in the Class of 2017.
“We couldn’t be more excited to officially welcome Jason Crowe Jr. to Mizzou,” stated Whitten Family Head Coach Dennis Gates. “It’s his approach to the game and preparation that separates him from others.”
A Scoring Phenom with Elite Skillset
On the court, Crowe is described as exceptionally skilled and possessing a high basketball IQ. “J2 is as smooth as a player as there is,” Gates noted. “He is extremely crafty with a high basketball IQ that allows him to score in any situation. There aren’t many players at any level that are as skilled of a scorer as he is and we can’t wait to welcome him to our Mizzou family next season.”
Crowe’s dominance extends beyond high school competition. He led all scorers on the Nike EYBL circuit this past summer, averaging an impressive 23.6 points per game across 11 contests. Playing for the Oakland Soldiers, the 6-foot-3 guard also contributed 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.1 steals, leading his team to an 8-3 record. He especially excelled at the peach Jam, the nation’s premier youth tournament, where he averaged 26.5 points per game.
On Pace to Rewrite California Scoring Records
Hailing from Inglewood, California, Crowe is poised to not only break the state’s all-time scoring record but to surpass it by a significant margin. Entering his senior year,he already ranks sixth in California history with 3,331 career points, needing just 328 more to claim the top spot.As a junior, he averaged a remarkable 35.3 points per game, totaling 952 points in 27 games, alongside 6.1 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
crowe’s commitment to basketball extends to national team training, having participated in USA Basketball camps with the U16 National Team in 2023, the U17 Team in 2024, and the U19 Team in 2025.
A Family Affair and a Shining Future for Mizzou
The crowe family’s enthusiasm for the program is evident. “We are so excited for “J2″ to officially become a part of the MIZ family,” said Jason Crowe Sr., Jason’s father and the head coach at Inglewood High School. “Coach Gates has assembled an amazing staff of outstanding teachers of the game, who operate with great synergy. My wife and I could feel the genuine care they have for the players and the school as a whole. The fans will see a young man who prepares diligently and loves to compete every night he wears that Black & Gold. We are certainly blessed to be invited into the Missouri family.”
Crowe joins fellow highly-rated recruits Toni bryant and Aidan Chronister in forming the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class for 2026. This talented trio will bolster a Mizzou program that has already demonstrated success under Coach Gates, achieving 20-plus wins and reaching the NCAA Tournament in two of the last three seasons.
Looking ahead, the Tigers are off to a strong 4-0 start during the 2025-26 season, recently securing their largest win in school history against a big Ten opponent.
