Speaker of the National Parliament. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that the whole world is passing through the era of free flow of information. Bangladesh is not behind in any area. The media center is an important work station for breaking news, press conferences and various trainings.
Additional Secretary of Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat on Thursday (February 8). He said these things as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the post-renovation media center of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan chaired by Nuruzzaman.
Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shamsul Haque Tuku, Chief Whip Noor-e Alam Chowdhury, Whip Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Whip Saimum Sarwar Kamal, Whip Nazrul Islam Babu and Whip Mashrafe Bin Mortza were special guests on the occasion.
Additional chief engineer of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works gave a welcome speech at the event. Naseem Khan Besides, Bangladesh Parliament Journalists Association President Harun Al Rashid, Vice President Moshiur Rahman and former General Secretary Kamran Reza Chowdhury spoke.
Speaker Dr. Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury said that the journalists of the parliament beat can play an important role in providing objective news of the parliament by closely studying and reviewing the constitution and the rules of procedure of the national parliament. Keeping the principles of the constitution and the spirit of the liberation war intact, the media is an effective means of shaping public opinion.
He said that the Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad is working tirelessly as per Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s instructions to make the media center modern and up-to-date for the cooperation of media representatives.
The speaker also said that the national parliament is a symbol of fulfilling the aspirations and expectations of the people. The people are the owners of all powers and the National Parliament upholds the constitutional responsibility as the ultimate expression of the people.
He said that the media has a multifaceted role in upholding parliamentary democracy and institutionalizing democracy.
The Deputy Speaker said, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave our constitution and rules of procedure in the management of parliament. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading the country towards Smart Bangladesh by institutionalizing Parliament through their proper implementation.
Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury said that for the sake of accurate news coverage of the parliamentary committee meeting, the media workers should also come forward to ensure that the committee members come to the media center for a press briefing after the meeting is over.
Whip Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan said that after the Awami League government assumed power in 2008, order has returned to the National Assembly and the constructive discussion of the opposition parties has been created.
Members of parliament, heads of various divisions and departments of the National Parliament Secretariat, journalists of the Parliament Journalist Association, representatives of the Ministry of Public Works and other dignitaries and related officials of the National Parliament Secretariat were present on the occasion.
