Jeong-min Lee (Hanwha Q CELLS) finally won the major tournament on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) tour.

Lee Jeong-min recorded 7 birdies and 1 bogey in the final 4th round of the ‘Chris F&C 46th KLPGA Championship’ (total prize money of 1.3 billion won), the first major tournament of the season held at Lakewood Country Club (par 72) in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do on the 28th, with 6 under par 66. I hit the bat.

Lee Jeong-min, who recorded a final total of 23 under par 265 strokes, beat 2nd place Jeon Ye-seong (Angang Construction), who had 19 under par 269 strokes, by 4 strokes and achieved his 11th win in his career. This is the first time that he has won a major tournament on the KLPGA Tour.

Lee Jeong-min, who had made it to the top 10 twice before this competition, achieved his first win in the 6th competition this season and received 234 million won in prize money. He reached the top in 1 year and 5 months since the PLK Pacific Ring Korea Championship in December 2022.

Lee Jeong-min said, “I didn’t see the leaderboard until the end, so I putted without knowing how many strokes there was a difference. “If I had known there would be a difference in number of strokes, I would have taken it a little easier,” he said, adding, “I played well yesterday and today, and I feel even better because I hit well and won.”

Regarding his performance, he said, “It has improved little by little since last week. “These days, the pin location is often right over the corner or mound, so it’s not easy to target the pin if you can’t control the distance and direction, but I think my shot feel has improved since last week and I played a good game,” he said.

When asked about his goal for this season, he said, “My goal is not to beat others. “I always try to perform the way I want to,” he said. “I hope to grow further.” Although I won today, there are definitely some regrets. “I try to pursue perfection,” he said.

Jeon Ye-sung, who was aiming for her second win in total, made a great performance that day, making 12 birdies and finishing at 12 under par, but had to be satisfied with second place. Set a record for the lowest number of strokes in 18 holes on the KLPGA Tour.

After the game, Jeon Ye-sung said, “I am shocked but happy that recording 12 under par has become a reality. Today I really hit everything I could. “I wasn’t putting well yesterday, so I practiced, and I think it led to good results,” he said.

This is the first time to record 12 under par. Jeon Yesung said, “He has more confidence and I think he can do it.”

Jeon Ye-sung failed to reach the top despite setting the record for the fewest strokes (18 holes) in KLPGA history at a major tournament. He said, “(Lee) Jeong-min’s pace was so good that I couldn’t help it. “I am grateful just for reducing the score and improving the ranking,” he said.

Long-hitting queen Bang Shin-sil (KB Financial Group) and Park Ji-young (Korea Land Trust), who attempted her second win of the season, tied for third place (16 under par, 272 strokes) with Kim Min-byeol (Hite Jinro).

Choi Min-kyung, who ranked 3rd in the third round, finished in 6th place (14 under par, 274 strokes). Yoon Ina (Hite Jinro), who was looking for her first win after her return, finished in 9th place (12 under par, 276 strokes) and achieved her best performance of the season.

Choi Eun-woo (Amano), winner of the Nexen/Saint Nine Masters, finished in a tie for 10th place (11 under par, 277 strokes), and Park Hyun-kyung (Korea Land Trust), who was aiming for her third win in this tournament, finished in a tie for 19th place (9 under par, 279 strokes).

Defending champion Lee Da-yeon (Mediheal) failed to defend her title. He remained at 8 under par 280 and tied for 26th place.
