The president of En Comú Podem in the Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, has resigned from Podemos Catalunya, a party in which she has been a member since the formation’s origins, as confirmed by sources close to her.
The news of his resignation has emerged after it was announced that the five Podemos deputies in the Congress of Deputies, led by Ione Belarra, are leaving Sumar and joining the Mixed Group.
Albiach is, like Ada Colau, one of the coordinators of Catalunya en Comú, a formation that until now has joined forces with Podemos Catalunya in the electoral brand En Comú Podem.
The prohibition of double militancy in Podemos Catalunya, since the beginning of November, has led Albiach, one of the main visible faces of the commons, to make the decision last week to withdraw from Podem.
