Ranchi: Just before the Jharkhand Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suffered a major setback. Former minister Lewis Marandi resigned from the primary membership of BJP and joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Chief Minister Hemant Soren welcomed Lewis Marandi and other leaders joining the party. Senior BJP leaders Ganesh Mahali, Basco Besra, Bari Murmu and former MLA Kunal Shadangi also joined JMM. All the leaders were welcomed by Hemant Soren and Kunal Shadangi.
Lewis Marandi accused factionalism and indiscipline in BJP
Lewis Marandi, former MLA of Dumka and who defeated Hemant Soren in the 2014 elections, has expressed her displeasure by writing a long letter to BJP National President JP Nadda. He has alleged conspiracy, factionalism and indiscipline within the party. Lewis Marandi has expressed his displeasure over the decision to cancel the ticket from Dumka and has made many serious allegations.
Ganesh Mahali who challenged Champai Soren in JMM
Senior BJP leader Ganesh Mahali, who gave a tough fight to former Chief Minister Champai Soren in the 2014 and 2019 assembly elections, has also joined JMM. With this, it is almost certain that Champai Soren, who left JMM and joined BJP, will once again give a tough competition to Ganesh Mahali in Seraikela. But this time Ganesh Mahali will join as JMM ticket and Champai Soren as BJP candidate.
Kunal Shadangi will contest against BJP’s Dineshanand in Baharagora.
Former BJP state spokesperson Kunal Shadangi also took membership of JMM on Monday. Kunal Shadangi had won the 2014 election on JMM ticket, but in 2019 he joined BJP and was defeated by JMM’s Sameer Mohanty. But during the Lok Sabha elections this year itself, he resigned from his post. Later he also resigned from the primary membership of BJP. Sameer Mohanty was also in the CM residence when Kunal Shadangi joined JMM. However, while talking to journalists outside, his attitude appeared harsh.
Former MLA Anant Tudu and Zip President Bari Murmu in JMM
Former BJP MLA Anant Tudu and East Singhbhum district council president Bari Murmu also joined JMM. Apart from this, Basco Besra also joined JMM. BJP has suffered a big blow in Kolhan region due to these leaders joining JMM.
