Jitan Ramesh is playing the lead role in this film Route No. 17. Anju Pandya is playing the female lead. She works as a flight attendant in Air India. She is making her debut as a heroine through this film.
Aruvi Madan has played the lead role while Harish Baredi plays the villain. Amar Ramachandran, Nihal, Akhil Prabhakar, Jennifer, Bindu, Kasi Viswanathan, Titus and many others have acted in this film. Popular Malayalam music composer Auseppasan has composed the music for this film. The songs are written by Yugabharathi, K. Karthik and Senthamil Dasan. Jackie Johnson, who has worked in Telugu films including Drishyam, has designed the action sequences. The film’s sound graphics and sound design have been designed by the team that worked for Gandhara, including Raja Krishnan.
Director Abhilash says about the film, “The path through the forest is the meaning of the title of this film. A trail that started thirty years ago is now closed. All those who forcefully enter this path face death that very night. There is a heart-melting reason behind this. The film is a 30-year revenge story spanning three periods from 1990 to 2020. Accordingly, Jithan Ramesh has also acted in three types of villains. It also has a weird 90 kg weight. National award winning make-up artist Rasheed Ahmed has worked in this film.
Akhilesh Mohan, the cinematographer of the Malayalam Prithviraj-Mohanlal collaboration Pro Daddy and the upcoming Lucifer 2 in the same partnership, is overseeing the cinematography of the film. It is noteworthy that he is unique to the extent that he has edited only the action scenes of films starring actor Ranbir Kapoor in Bollywood.
Prashanth Pranavam, who did the cinematography for my first film Thainilam, has also done the cinematography for this film. The story takes place in three different time periods, whereas the cinematographer Prashant Pranavam has shown a huge difference between the three different places – a dense forest, a huge cave, and an arid plain. Many people who watched the film before the DI color grading expressed their surprise and appreciation for the cinematography.
In this film we have introduced a poet named Senthamil Dasan. A poet, he has written a song for cinema for the first time. It is certain that he will become a great lyricist later. Shweta Mohan has sung a lullaby. Also Franco and Rita Thiagarajan who sings love making songs have also sung songs. The story of this film takes place in the region between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. We have shot at Gundalpet in Karnataka and Thenkasi and Kadayanallur in Tamil Nadu.
Not only that, we had a huge 5500 square feet underground set for this film and shot for 28 days. So far no one has put up a set like this in the cinema. We set up this cave set in a place called Kannavam in Andhra Pradesh where Baahubali was shot. During the shooting days, many people came to see the set.
Apart from that, we shot for ten days in the dense forest of Tenkasi region. No one would enter the jungle after 6 pm, which is threatened by elephants and tigers, but we shot till 9 pm. All our shooting days were like a festival, like going on a fun trip. The first look of the film was released by actor Jeeva and the second look by actor Arya. These views are now going viral. We are planning to release its trailer in January. The film is being prepared for release in April.
