The black metal scene has lost a distinctive personality whose influence extended far beyond the boundaries of the music genre. Jon Kennedy, the bassist known among other things for the cult black metal band Cradle of Filth, has died. He was involved in a serious road accident on the A55 near Broughton in which he unfortunately lost his life. The details of this tragic event are not yet known, but according to foreign information, no other car was involved in the accident… His death deeply affected everyone in the music world – and his colleagues from the music world paid tribute to him.

Kennedy was a member of Cradle of Filth in its early days in 1994 before leaving to pursue other musical projects and a solo career. Despite his short tenure, the band said goodbye to him with a very emotional post on their Facebook profile. Frontman Dani Filth (50), whose real name is Daniel Lloyd Davey, expressed his respect for Kennedy’s musical legacy and shared memories of their time together.

“He was a great bass player and singer who represented the Cradle in a time of such magical significance, chaos and mischief,” stated Filth. “I still remember spending a wonderfully crazy week at Jon’s mum’s house near Wrexham in Wales in 1995. We collected magic mushrooms from the local football field and then watched the Emperor (Norwegian metal band, editor’s note) syncs with the newly released Disney Aladdinem on VHS. At that time we played ‘pranks’ on each other and playfully teased each other. Will be absent! Have a good trip, old friend…” barked an unmissable musician through social networks.

Colleagues from the black metal band Hecate Enthroned, where he also worked, also remembered Kennedy. “We are shocked and devastated by the death of our brother Jon Kennedy. It is a huge loss for his friends and family, but also for thousands of music fans of this genre. Jon’s passion for music was great and working with him was fun and inspiring. At the same time, it was a great challenge because he was driven by a huge passion. This passion was on par with his love for his family and closest friends. He was a loving father, husband and son. Our thoughts go out to his wonderful family.” they wrote on social media and shared a link to a fundraiser for his funeral.
