Journey Acquires Dimension Studio to Pioneer Next Generation of Immersive Experiences

A leading global design and innovation studio, Journey, has finalized the acquisition of Dimension Studio, a UK-based creative technology firm specializing in virtual production. This strategic move positions Journey to redefine design across multiple platforms and deliver enhanced value to both audiences and partners.

Expanding the Boundaries of Experience Design

The acquisition marks a pivotal step in Journey’s ambition to reimagine design across mediums, according to a company release. Journey, known for its work on projects like immersive storytelling at the Empire State Building, a reimagining of opera in The Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, enhanced visitor engagement at Sphere, and the future urban destination of Qiddiya, aims to reshape how people, brands, and culture connect.

Dimension Studio’s expertise in end-to-end virtual production, making it a natural fit for Journey.

Dimension operates at the intersection of real-time technologies, production, and artificial intelligence (AI), offering speed, flexibility, and high-quality visuals for content creation. As a leader in Unreal engine-powered, AI-enabled animation, the studio accelerates production through rapid iteration, virtual environments, and seamless collaboration. It also provides real-time tools for concerts, live brand experiences (LBE), and multi-venue activations, enabling creative teams to visualize, plan, and execute top-tier events.

A client Roster of Industry Giants

Based in London with international operations, Dimension Studio has collaborated with major studios including Disney, Netflix, amazon, Apple TV+, and Sony Pictures. Recent projects include work on Amazon’s Those About To Die, Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air, Robert Zemeckis’ Here, Universal Pictures’ Wicked parts 1 and 2, and Taika Waititi’s Time bandits. The Dimension Live team has also delivered projects for artists like Röyksopp and Floating Points, and for major events such as the Glastonbury Festival.

Financial Backing and Future Outlook

The transaction was facilitated by private equity firm Growth Catalyst Partners (GCP), which invests in tech-enabled creative businesses. Journey has also secured a new lending relationship with Eldridge, an asset management and insurance holding company.

James O’Callaghan, managing director at Growth Catalyst Partners, noted, “Dimension becoming part of Journey marks an exciting next chapter of growth for the platform-bringing together two world-class creative organizations that share a vision for the future of immersive content, creative technology and digital storytelling.
