Good start into the new era!
Tennis star Jule Niemeier (24) started the ITF tournament in Tokyo with a win. The Dortmund player, seeded number 2, easily beat the Japanese Moyuka Uchijima (22) 6: 2, 6: 4. It was the first game under their new coach Zeljko Krajan (44).
Niemeier failed at the US Open in the first round of qualifying and then parted ways with her coach Christopher Kas (43), with whom she had worked since April 2022.

The reason was the ongoing playful crisis combined with the lack of results. That year, Niemeier was knocked out twelve times in the first round, five times in the second and twice failed to qualify. In 2022 she was still in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
