Owning a supercar is a matter of prestige, and owners have fat wallets. Whether they choose a Ferrari, Aston Martin or Porsche, thinking about maintenance costs is rarely at the forefront. However, those lucky enough to drive limited-edition models such as the McLaren F1, which are now worth tens of millions of euros, often encounter surprisingly high service costs.

Just changing the oil of the car, which debuted in the already distant 1993, requires about 8,000 euros. If this is combined with the required annual inspection, the costs quickly jump to the €30,000 figure. And while you may be wondering if there is anything more expensive, the answer is – changing tires. For this “ordinary” service, twice a year, owners of this supercar have to shell out around 50,000 euros.

The price of just a set of special tires is 6,000 euros, but that’s just the beginning. Fitting the new tires requires precise tuning of the McLaren F1 chassis to ensure optimal performance of the car, taking into account not only the current imbalance of the tires but also the natural aging of the material, writes Auto Bild. This process involves detailed testing and adaptation of the braking system to the new tires. The manufacturer insists on these works, even if only one tire needs to be replaced.

Completing this operation is only the beginning, as the owner must also secure the racetrack. On it, a certified driver with the company’s staff checks the correctness of the car’s steering with the new tires, and everything is at the expense of the owner.
