3 consecutive losses following Kawasaki and Yokohama
Pro Football K-League 1 Ulsan HD lost to Vissel Kobe (Japan) for the third time in a row in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Elite (ACLE).
Ulsan lost 0-2 in the 3rd home game of the 2024-2025 season ACLE League stage against Kobe held at Ulsan Sports Complex at 7 p.m. on the 23rd.
Coach Kim Pang-gon’s Ulsan lost 0-1 in the home game against Kawasaki Frontale in the first game and 0-4 in the away game against Yokohama F. Marinos (Japan) in the second game, and was unable to catch Kobe that day.
The home Ulsan Munsu World Cup Stadium faced turf problems and every effort was made to move it to Ulsan Sports Complex, but all efforts were in vain.
It was a defeat in which the physical impact of the fierce competition for the league title, which was underway at the end of the season, was felt.
‘0 points (3 losses, 0 points, 7 goals conceded)’ Ulsan failed to escape last place and faced the risk of elimination.
Ulsan will attempt its first win in the 4th away game against Johor Darul Takzim (Malaysia) on the 5th of next month.
A fierce exploration battle took place at the beginning of the game.
In the 13th minute of the first half, Ulsan’s Arabidze made a surprise shot from a distance, but was unable to penetrate the goalkeeper.
Kobe’s Yuya Osako hit a Jean-Patrick cross with his head in the 31st minute, but Cho Hyun-woo made a save.
After entering the second half, Ulsan gave up the balance.
In the 3rd minute of the second half, Daisei Miyashiro kept the ball with persistent pressure and then broke into the penalty box. He scored the first goal with a shot he attempted with Lim Jong-eun in front.
Ulsan replaced Rubikson, Ko Seung-beom, and Joo Min-gyu, but the gap widened further.
In the 28th minute of the second half, Yoshinori Muto broke through a defender and scored in front of the goal. Miyashiro, who was free from pressure from the opponent, scored multiple goals with a header aimed at the corner.
Ulsan tried to win by adding national striker Joo Min-gyu, but it was not enough.
In the 31st minute of the second half, Joo Min-gyu took over the penetration pass and took a one-on-one opportunity. However, the left-footed shot flowed weakly and was blocked by Daiya Maekawa, so he swallowed his disappointment.
In the 48th minute of the second half, Ko Seung-beom’s bold mid-range shot was blocked by a punch from the opposing goalkeeper.
In the remaining time, Ulsan was unable to create anything significant, and ended up losing 0-2 to Kobe.
