The Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan (Azərbaycan Kinematoqrafçılar İttifaqı, AKİ) announced the next winner of the scholarship named after the People’s Artist, laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR and Azerbaijan, holder of the Order of “Shohrat”, a prominent film director Rasima Ojagovareports Day.Az.

This year, the scholarship was awarded to a 3rd year student of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (AGUKI), a veteran of the 44-day Patriotic War, Mamedali Abilov. Let us remind you that Mamedali Abilov became the winner of the international film festival “Cinemoff” in 2023. The social video he shot on a smartphone took first place at the festival.

The Rasim Ojagov Scholarship, established in February 2017, is provided to talented young people from the cinematographic field who have distinguished themselves in their studies and social life. Previously, its owners were students of various faculties of AGUKI – Maser Hasanov, Rahman Allahverdiyev, Nargiz Sadykh, Vusal Hajiyev, Mirza Huseynov, Gullu Ismailzade

Rasim Mirgasim oglu Ojagov was born in Sheki on November 22, 1933. In 1951-1956 he studied at the camera department of VGIK in Moscow. In 1965 he graduated from the directing department of the Azerbaijan Theater Institute. Laureate of the State Prize of Azerbaijan for the film “Birthday”, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR for the film “Interrogation”. As a cameraman, Rasim Odzhagov worked on such films as “Her Big Heart”, “True Friend”, “Our Street”, “I Will Dance”, “Why Are You Silent?”, “In This Southern City” and others. The first film shot by Rasim Ojagov as a director was the film “The Avenger from Ganjabasar”. Rasim Odzhagov is the director of films that make up unforgettable pages in the chronicle of national cinema. Among them are “The Sound of the Pipe”, “Birthday”, “Interrogation”, “Before a Closed Door”, “Park”, “Another Life”, “Temple of Air”, “Takhmina”, “Istanbul Story”, “Hotel Room” “. Rasim Odzhagov passed away on July 11, 2006.
