Bengaluru: The Karnataka assembly election date will be announced today. The date will be announced at the Central Election Commission’s press conference at 11.30 am. There are reports that in the case of Rahul Gandhi being disqualified from the post of MP, there is a possibility that there will be an announcement regarding the Wayanad by-election.

The tenure of the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government will end on May 24. Karnataka has a 224 member assembly.

At the same time, the report released by the Lok Poll survey indicated that there is no possibility of a lotus blossoming in Karnataka this time and that the Congress will make a strong comeback. The survey was conducted on 45000 voters in 224 constituencies of Karnataka.

It is reported that Congress will win by winning 116-122 seats. The result is that BJP’s seats will shrink to 77-83 seats, Janata Dal will get 21-27 seats and other parties will get four seats.

Congress will get 39-42 percent votes, BJP 33-36 percent. It is predicted that Janata Dal S will get 15-18 percent.

The BJP, which had announced that it would bring an anti-corruption government, has been tired of being caught taking bribes from party MLAs. There were earlier reports that the remarks against Tipu Sultan and anti-Muslim sentiments have created an anti-BJP sentiment among the people in the state.

After the election, BJP campaigned in the state raising slogans of Tipu Sultan v/s Hindutva. The BJP is trying to strengthen the fence of Hindutva ideology in the state by doing things like canceling Tipu Jayanti, renaming the Salam Aarti celebration as Aarti Namaskara, and omitting the lessons about Tipu.

The BJP had also stated that it will build a Ram temple in the state. Karnataka BJP leader Nalin Kumar Kadil had said that there is no place for those who support Tipu in the state and Sri Rama devotees are enough.

Savarkar’s flags were also raised during the BJP’s Independence Day celebrations, which included lessons on Savarkar.
