The 29-year-old Colombian shared the nomination in that category with other well-known exponents of the genre such as her compatriot Maluma, the Puerto Ricans Bad Bunny and Ozuna, and her current partner Anuel AA, with whom she is engaged (although there are rumors of a possible breakup ).
This was not his only achievement of the night. She also won the award for Best Collaboration thanks to her song “Tusa” with Nicky Minaj, and the audiovisual material was among the nominees for Best Video.
For many, it is a milestone in the history of urban music, as the Paisa singer managed to surpass her peers in the genre, leaders for years in this category, and places her at the top of urban music.
Karol G herself expressed her joy and gratitude in a photo showing her awards on Instagram, a post that already has more than 2 million likes on that platform.
The 27th EMAs gala, a competition that celebrates the best of European and world music, took place this Sunday, November 8, in a delayed manner in an online show in which artists such as Sam Smith, Alicia Keys, Maluma and the Karol G herself, who performed her new song “Bichota” accompanied by motorcyclists and vintage-style cars.
