DIG/ In an exclusive interview granted to the daily union, Zeynep harezi Yilmaz, Director of Commercial Operations at Karpowership International, revealed the outlines of the signing of the contract between the Turkish multinational and the Gabonese State.
Despite the backpedaling of the government, which announced the suspension of the contract, according to her, the solution proposed by her company is beneficial in terms of costs, profitability and sustainability for Gabon.
Indeed, she maintains, wiht 25 years of experience in the sector, Karpowership is currently the only company in the world that owns, operates and builds a fleet of 40 Powerships — floating power plants offering a fast, economical and reliable alternative for electricity supply.

“Karpowership signed a five-year contract with the national energy company, Société d’Énergie et d’Eau du Gabon (SEEG), on May 9, 2024, to provide up to 150 MW of reliable power generation and flexible thanks to its innovative floating power plant solutions.
As part of this project, two latest generation Powerships, the KPS-50 Koray Bey and the KPS-52 Nezih Bey, were deployed to Libreville within two months following the handover of the site.
These vessels are now fully operational and ready to generate electricity, meeting Gabon’s immediate energy needs and strengthening the stability of its national grid.”
