Kathiravan IAS passes away: CM Stalin’s condolences

CHENNAI: Former Collector of Erode and Krishnagiri districts and Director of Tamil Nadu Highway Projects Kathiravan (52) passed away due to a heart attack.

After passing the Group 1 examination, Kathiravan joined the work of Dharmapuri district as a trainee Deputy Collector in 2002. Subsequently, he was unemployed as a revenue code tax officer at Kallakurichi, Aranthangi and Villupuram.

He was promoted as an IAS officer in 2013. After that he worked as General Manager of Salem, Maduraima Corporation Commissioner, Krishnagiri and Erode District Commissioner. Subsequently, he worked as the General Manager of Salem Magnesite and was currently working as the Director of Tamil Nadu Highway Projects in Chennai.

Yesterday morning (17th) due to a sudden heart attack, he was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai and passed away without treatment. He has a wife named Thenmozhi and 2 daughters. His body, which was brought from Chennai yesterday, was kept at his residence in Gandhipuram near Senthamangalam district for public tributes.

Tamil Nadu Highways and Public Works Minister AV Velu, Forest Minister Mathiventhan and others on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government laid floral wreaths on his body and paid their last respects. Later his body was cremated at Gandhipuram graveyard at 6 pm.

Chief Minister’s condolence: In the condolence message issued by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on the death of IAS officer Kathiravan, “I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of Tamil Nadu Road Development Project Director Kathiravan IAS passing away due to ill health. I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved family members,” he said.
