In a season that has seen more lows than highs, the Kings found a reason to celebrate with a record-breaking performance coming from an unlikely source.

In Sacramento’s 125-104 victory over the Utah Jazz on Saturday, forward Keegan Murray put on a show, setting a new franchise record with 12 made 3-pointers. The second-year player was on fire throughout the game, finishing with a career-high 47 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Murray’s historic night also made him the youngest player in NBA history to accomplish the feat.

The fireworks began in the third quarter, which saw Murray hit seven-straight 3-pointers, setting a Sacramento record for most points and 3s in a quarter. And when the final buzzer sounded, he was a staggering 12-of-15 from beyond the arc, achieving 80 percent shooting from 3-point range and 69.6 percent from the field overall.

“It kind of reminded me of last year and college when I would get hot,” Murray said. “You kind of just black out for a little bit, and it just feels like everything you put up is going to go in.”

Even though Murray didn’t break the NBA record for 3-pointers in a game, his performance caught the attention of NBA stars like Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors players were keeping tabs on Murray’s historic night and offered their reactions.

Murray’s certainly set a high standard for himself after such a performance. It will be interesting to see if he can maintain the rhythm and replicate his success in the future games.
