Jaeyoung Lim and Jihoon Park, discharged from managing director… “It’s helpful to the team.”
Men’s volleyball team Korean Air is considering recruiting a replacement for Yosvani, who left the team due to a shoulder injury.
Korean Air, which achieved 4 consecutive wins last season, selected ‘V-League veteran’ Yosbani as a foreign player this season.
Yosbani, who had been highly anticipated, has not been able to play since the Korea Electric Power Company match on the 23rd of last month.
It is highly likely that a replacement player will be brought in to fill Yosvani’s void.
Coach Tilkainen said, “(Even though Josvani is not there), we need to form a different lineup so that we can win the game. The players are preparing well. “I think we have a good chance of winning no matter what happens,” he emphasized.
He continued, “The players are always working hard and training hard. “We are creating a competitive moment,” he added.
In addition to Yosbani, Korean Air, which is missing key players such as Kim Gyu-min and Lee Jun due to injuries, can expect an increase in strength as Lim Jae-young and Park Ji-hoon, who enlisted in the Armed Forces Athletic Corps (Sangmu), were discharged the day before and joined the team.
Coach Tilkainen said, “Time passed quickly. “I remember the day I left, but the day of my discharge has already arrived,” he said, laughing. “They are positive players who bring laughter. It helps in forming different lineups. “Whether it’s a game or training, it helps the team,” he said with satisfaction.
About Lim Jae-young, “Maybe it’s because he became a father that he became more mature. “I think my shoulder has come back stronger,” he said, pointing out the difference.
Lim Jae-young showed off his improved skills by leading Sangmu to advance to the semifinals at the Professional Volleyball Cup held in September.
Meanwhile, Wooricard coach Mauricio Paes said, “We didn’t prepare anything special just because it’s Korean Air. We prepare equally for all opponents. Korean Air plays with various systems. “We prepared accordingly,” he said.

Interview between Time.news Editor and Volleyball Expert
Time.news Editor: Welcome to Time.news! Today, we’re diving into the recent developments in the Korean Air men’s volleyball team. We have with us Dr. Soo-Jin Han, a sports psychologist and volleyball expert. Dr. Han, thank you for joining us to discuss the team’s situation, especially in light of Yosvani’s departure due to injury.
Dr. Soo-Jin Han: Thank you for having me! It’s a pleasure to discuss such a dynamic team and the challenges they face.
Time.news Editor: Let’s start with Yosvani’s injury. He was brought in with high expectations after his solid reputation as a ‘V-League veteran.’ How do injuries like this impact team morale and performance?
Dr. Soo-Jin Han: Injuries can significantly affect a team’s morale, especially when a player is as pivotal as Yosvani. The team might experience feelings of uncertainty or anxiety about filling the gap he leaves. However, it’s also an opportunity for other players to step up and demonstrate their abilities. It’s crucial for the coaching staff to maintain a positive atmosphere to mitigate any potential negativity regarding the situation.
Time.news Editor: Coach Tilkainen seems to have a very optimistic outlook despite the setback. He mentioned that they need to form a new lineup to adapt. How important is adaptability in sports, especially volleyball?
Dr. Soo-Jin Han: Adaptability is vital in any sport but particularly in volleyball, where teamwork and strategy play critical roles. Each player must be able to adjust to different roles and responsibilities based on the team’s needs and the current game context. Coach Tilkainen’s emphasis on forming a different lineup shows his understanding of the situation, and positive leadership in this context can help the entire team to remain focused and motivated.
Time.news Editor: The return of Lim Jae-young and Park Ji-hoon after their service is being highlighted as a positive change. What are the psychological benefits of having familiar and possibly more mature players back in the team?
Dr. Soo-Jin Han: Having experienced players like Lim and Park back can be incredibly beneficial. Their familiarity with the team dynamics and their maturity—especially after personal experiences, like Lim becoming a father—can help stabilize the team environment. They can also serve as mentors for younger players, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and resilience. Their presence can improve on-court communication and strategy execution, providing encouragement to the team during challenging times.
Time.news Editor: Coach Tilkainen also mentioned that Lim appears more mature and stronger. How do you think personal developments outside of sports influence an athlete’s performance?
Dr. Soo-Jin Han: Personal growth significantly influences an athlete’s performance. When players experience life changes, such as parenthood, they often develop qualities like patience, focus, and emotional maturity. These changes can help them manage stress better and improve their overall attitude towards training and games. If Lim Jae-young has escaped the military with renewed vigor and strength, it may enhance both his performance and his influence on the team.
Time.news Editor: Lastly, with key players still out due to injuries, what strategies should the team consider to maintain their competitive edge?
Dr. Soo-Jin Han: Korean Air should focus on maximizing the strengths of their available players. This means engaging in targeted training sessions to refine skills, improve teamwork, and implement strategies that highlight players’ individual talents. Mental resilience training can also help the athletes cope with pressure and maintain confidence. Emphasizing a growth mindset, where learning and adapting are valued over immediate success, could foster a more robust team spirit under these challenging circumstances.
Time.news Editor: Thank you, Dr. Han, for your insights on the challenges and opportunities facing Korean Air. It sounds like a pivotal time for the team.
Dr. Soo-Jin Han: Absolutely! I look forward to watching how they adapt and grow throughout the season. Thanks for having me!
