In total, LVS presented 11 nominations, one special award and awarded four nominees selected by the European Athletics Association (EAA).
Kreis was recognized as the best track and field athlete for the second year in a row.
The high jumper improved his personal record (5.72 meters) last year, but ranked 12th at the Olympic Games in Paris. On the other hand, Vaičule took 17th place in the indoor world championship last year and 26th place in the Olympics in the 400-meter run.
The best U-18 athletes were named Brenda Jilian Apsita and Emīla Lamba by LVS, the best in the U-20 competition were Patrićia Jansone and Andris Skadiņš, the coach of the year was Mareks Arents, the “Old Master of the Year” award went to Modra Liepiņa, while the “Old Master of the Year” award was awarded in the nomination received by Dainis Kula. On the other hand, Agate Armane became the best athlete of the past year in trail running, while Matīss Vecvagaris won the title of “Sportsman of the Year” in long distance running.
Diāna Lāce and Andris Kronbergs received EAA coaches’ awards, while Mārīte Vilcāne and Edgars Vaivods received the EAA “Member’s Federation Award”. Anita Davouda was honored with a special award.
A year earlier, Keish and runner Agate Caune were recognized as the best track and field athletes.
