FORNEBU - Norwegian handball legend Kristian Bjørnsen has announced his retirement from the national team following Sunday’s match against Sweden. the 36-year-old, who has been a cornerstone of the Norwegian men’s handball team for years, made the announcement on the Norwegian Handball Federation’s website.
“I’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” bjørnsen said. “As my children get older, I feel like I’m missing out on more and more. That has made my decision easier.”
Bjørnsen, who will play his 215th international match on Sunday, has scored an remarkable 750 goals for the national team. He has been a vital part of the team’s success, particularly during January’s championship tournaments.
