Kuwait’s first Bahira Kasa satellite; Kuwait SAT-1 took off from Florida, USA

Kuwait City: Kuwait’s first space satellite, Kuwait SAT-1, has soared, giving wings to the dreams and hopes of one and a half million Kuwaiti people. The launch of the satellite took place at 5.55 pm Kuwait time from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Base in Florida, USA.

The satellite was launched into space by Space Exploration Technologies Corporation’s (SpaceX) Falcon-9 rocket. The first messages from the satellite are expected to be received 4 hours and 2 minutes after launch. Once in orbit, the satellite will separate from the rocket vehicle and deploy its wings containing solar batteries to power itself.

Exchanges are made using the signal received by the station at Kuwait University. The satellite’s high-definition camera will capture key geological information and images of the country. Kuwait Sat-1, the first satellite made entirely in Kuwait, cost 3,16,000 dinars.

Operation Director Dr. said that the project was completed after four years of research and studies. Ahmad Al Kandari clarified. Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Vice-Emir Sheikh Mish’ Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah congratulated all the scientists behind the successful launch of the Kuwait satellite satellite.
