by times news cr

Israel has expanded the scope of the war it is waging against Lebanon to include all of its regions, including the capital, Beirut, through unprecedented air strikes, amid the continued ground incursion into the south.

Israeli Army Radio announced today, Sunday, that “the army has intensified its ground operations in southern Lebanon,” noting that “large-scale air and artillery strikes have been carried out in the region.”

The radio reported, “Over the past few hours, an army division carried out ground maneuvers in one of the areas of southern Lebanon, and the Israeli army also carried out large-scale artillery and air strikes in the region.”

The Israeli army also carried out artillery shelling and raids on the vicinity of the towns of Naqoura and Alma al-Shaab, the city of Nabatiyeh, the Bayad neighborhood, the towns of Burj al-Shamali and Toul, the district of Tyre, the town of al-Muaisara in the Keserwan district, and the town of Kafr Melki in the villages of Iqlim al-Tuffah. Israeli drones targeted a car on the Ibel al-Saqi-Khiam road and a motorcycle on Al-Khiyam Road.

The commercial market in the city of Nabatieh also caught fire as a result of a violent Israeli air strike in the center of the southern city, which still includes 150 displaced families out of 70,000 people inhabiting it.

The raid targeted “Al-Dimasi Street,” which branches off from “Hassan Kamel Al-Sabah Street,” and connects it to “Mahmoud Fakih Street” on the opposite side, knowing that the two streets are considered the city’s vital economic and service artery.

This is the first time that this geographical area in southern Lebanon has witnessed similar destruction, as this did not happen in the July 2006 aggression.

The Israeli army issued a “warning to the residents of a number of villages in southern Lebanon, namely: Aita al-Shaab, Ramiyah, Yater, Qozah, Beit Lev, Hanin, Rashaf, Ainta, Qalila, al-Hush, Nabaa, Tulin, Tamriyah, Khiam, Khirbet, Kafr Hamam, Arab Louaizeh, Abu Zablah Bridge, Jabal Adas, Dahr Bariyat Jaber, Kafra, Ramadiyya, and Zibqin.”

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported on Sunday that “18 people were killed and others injured yesterday, Saturday, in raids launched by Israeli army aircraft on Lebanon.”

On the other hand, Hezbollah continues to respond to the Israeli attack on Lebanon by launching missiles, drones, and artillery shells targeting military sites, cities, and settlements throughout Israel.

The Lebanese “Hezbollah” announced, “targeting an Israeli armored vehicle in the vicinity of the Ramiya site, and a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the Tal Shaar site, with artillery shells.”

Successive statements issued by Hezbollah stated: “We targeted an armored vehicle when it attempted to infiltrate the Tal al-Mudawwar area in the vicinity of the Ramieh site, with a guided missile, and it was directly hit, leaving its crew dead and wounded.”

He added: “Our Mujahideen detonated an explosive device with the force of Israeli enemy soldiers and clashed with it when it attempted to infiltrate the town of Ramiya, killing and wounding its members, and the clashes are still continuing to this moment with medium weapons.”

In a related context, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the Tal Shaar site with artillery shells. In addition, “Hezbollah” targeted the Zarit barracks with missile weapons and a “Burkan” missile, and it was directly hit, according to a party statement.

Hezbollah continued: “We targeted a gathering of Israeli enemy forces in Khallet Warda with a missile salvo, and we targeted a gathering of Israeli enemy forces in the Shomera settlement with a missile salvo, and we targeted a gathering of Israeli enemy forces in the Zibdin barracks in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms with a missile salvo, and we targeted at 10 o’clock: 10 a.m. today, Sunday, a gathering of Israeli enemy forces in the town of Maroun al-Ras, with artillery shells.

Yesterday, Hezbollah announced the targeting of an Israeli army force that attempted to infiltrate from the outskirts of the town of Ramieh in southern Lebanon, resulting in confirmed casualties, including one dead and one wounded.

In this context, the first Saudi plane carrying urgent medical and food aid took off today, Sunday, within the framework of the Saudi Air Bridge Relief Programme, to Rafic Hariri Airport in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The plane contains 46 containers with various medical and therapeutic aid, in addition to tents.

The Saudi News Agency (SPA) reported, “The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued implementing the Al-Amal Charitable Bakery project in its fourth phase for the year 2023, in Akkar Governorate and Al-Minya District in Lebanon. During the past week, the project distributed 175 thousand loaves of bread to needy families from… Syrians, Palestinians, and the host community living in northern Lebanon, 12,000 families benefited from it.”

This comes “as part of the humanitarian and relief projects provided by the Kingdom through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief Center, to assist refugees in their various locations.”

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will launch an air bridge to transport aid to Lebanon.”

The current Israeli escalation in Lebanon since last September has resulted in the death of 2,255 people, the injury of thousands, and more than 1,200,000 displaced people.
