Signed with PVF San Diego Mojo from 2025
Lee Da-young (28), a volleyball player who was virtually kicked out of the domestic stage amid controversy over school violence, will return to the Greek stage.
Greek professional volleyball team Panionios announced the news of Lee Da-young’s recruitment on the club’s website on the 9th (Korean time), saying, “We are joining forces with Lee Da-young, a former member of the Korean national team and a top volleyball star.”
Panionios explained, “Lee Da-young plans to play in Greece until this year and for San Diego Mojo starting next year.”
Last month, San Diego Mojo of the U.S. women’s professional volleyball PVF (Pro Volleyball Federation) announced the signing of a contract with Lee Da-young.
At the time, coach Taiyiba Hanif Park San Diego said, “We are happy to be able to showcase Lee Da-young’s skills and experience starting in the 2025 season,” and added, “We expect that he will be helpful in challenging for another championship this season.”
As her contract with San Diego begins in 2025, Lee Da-young is expected to work on the Greek stage again for a while during the remaining period.
Lee Da-young, who was loved as a star representing the V-League along with her ‘twin sister’ Lee Jae-young, was virtually kicked out of the domestic stage in 2021 after sniping at national team senior Kim Yeon-kyung (Heungkuk Life Insurance) and at the same time being pointed out as a perpetrator of school violence along with Lee Jae-young. Lee Da-young, who turned his attention overseas, continued his career as a player wearing the PAOK uniform of the Greek A1 League in October 2021. In the 2022-2023 season, he played for Romanian Rapid Bucharest, but his position was limited due to injuries.
Since last year, he has worn the French League Bolero Le Canet uniform and led the team to 4th place in the league.
Through this contract with Panionios, Lee Da-young will be able to play on the Greek court again before going to the United States.
Lee Da-young said through the club, “I am very happy to return to Greece. “I want to put on the Panionios uniform and do my best as soon as possible,” he said.
