The fifth generation of Lexus RX, the SUV of the Japanese luxury brand, arrives in Israel with a wide range of electrified drive systems, with the importer’s general goal being to reach 92% of electric / hybrid / plug-in drive of all expected Lexus sales for 2023
Lexus presents in Israel the new RX – the new model of the large luxury SUV of Lexus, which is the fifth generation of the model.
In line with the vision that Lexus has set for a greener and cleaner future, the new RX presents a wider range of electric drive systems. For Lexus, the new RX is a reinvention of the model, which was first released in 1998 and created a new market segment of luxury recreational vehicles and is currently a global core model of Lexus with 3.5 million deliveries worldwide.
The new RX will be offered in Israel, similar to Europe, with three drive systems, allowing each buyer to choose the electrified drive system that suits him and his budget.

+RX 450h The first RX model to adopt Lexus plug-in hybrid technology.
RX 350h The hybrid vehicle is positioned as an effective alternative for those interested in switching from diesel and gasoline drive systems.
RX 500h Lexus’ first performance hybrid vehicle with a turbocharger.
The RX 500h comes with driving power control called DIRECT4 – Lexus’ new drive power technology with intelligent all-wheel drive when the rear axle is electric and has a 4-degree rear steering.
The driver’s space is based on the Lexus Tazuna concept, in which the design and layout of the control and information displays are calculated for quick and easy operation, in accordance with the “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” principle. It also improves the driving experience, with an intuitive and clean layout and the new Lexus Link Multimedia system and the “Hey Lexus” voice assistant activated via the Lexus Link smartphone app. The multimedia system includes a 14-inch touch screen as standard with buttons for accessing the most common functions. The graphics are displayed in HD and the central processing unit in the system works 3.6 times faster than its predecessor.
In order to create the new driving seal of Lexus – ‘Lexus Driving Signature’ – Lexus has improved the basic features of the recreational vehicle in the new RX, such as center of gravity, inertia specifications, weight reduction, rigidity and drive system to create a more natural dialogue between the vehicle and the driver. The improved road behavior and speed of response are based on the development of Lexus’ GA-K platform which provides body rigidity and a low center of gravity.
The Next Chapter design of the new RX took the hourglass shape from the familiar Lexus front grill and created a new hourglass body effect that was incorporated into the entire front of the vehicle. The grill itself has been reinterpreted as a single unit that merges with the chassis along its entire length to its ends. The new narrow lighting units and the 15 mm wider front wheel arch add emphasis to the vehicle’s low center of gravity and stable appearance on the ground.
The hood has been lengthened, the A-beam has been moved back, and the wheelbase has been extended by 60 mm. Sculpted surfaces on the door panels, flared rear wings and 21-inch wheels add a sense of road holding and powerful dynamism.
Lexus used new materials in the structure of the vehicle to reduce weight. Thicknesses of the side parts and door bodies were reduced, and in certain components such as the central beam, steel with high tensile strength and hot stamping was used. Additional weight savings were achieved by replacing the steel in the front wings with aluminum and in addition, the material from which the cover of the fuel tank and the charging socket of the + RX 450h are made was changed from steel to resin.
