London: Liverpool and Manchester City win in the English Premier League. However, Chelsea suffered a huge defeat when they won the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Liverpool beat Watford by two goals to nil. Diego Jotta and Fabinho shook the net for the Reds through a penalty.
Defending champions City beat Burnley 2-0. Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkai Gundogan scored for City.
Chelsea were thrashed by a relatively weak Brentford side. The Blues lost by four goals to one. That too, on its own ground. Vitaly Janelte scored a brace for Brentford, while Christian Eriksson and Joan Visa also netted. Chelsea conceded four goals after conceding one.
In other matches, Wolves beat Aston Villa 2-1, while Southampton held Leeds to a draw.
Currently, Manchester City remain at the top of the points table. The team has 73 points from 30 matches. Second-placed Liverpool have 72 points from as many games. Chelsea have 59 points from 29 games.
