After Manchester City‘s win on Saturday, Liverpool needed three points at Arsenal to regain top spot. However, that didn’t work.
Liverpool FC failed to regain the lead in the Premier League. After Manchester City overtook Southampton with a win on Saturday, the “Reds” had to settle for a 2-2 (1-2) draw in the top game at Arsenal FC. However, the point gain is not enough to overtake Manchester City, who are one point ahead of Liverpool with 23 points. Arsenal remain in third place with 18 points.
Arsenal took the lead in the ninth minute through Bukayo Saka. But in the 18th minute Liverpool equalized through Virgil van Dijk. Shortly before the break there was another shock: Mikel Merino headed in from a free kick to give the home team the lead again (43′). In the second half, Liverpool tried everything, but struggled for a long time. Mohamed Salah only managed to equalize in the 81st minute.
