CHENNAI: The consumer court has ordered the company to pay Rs 30,000 as compensation to the company after paying the loan installments in full and sending a notice to the customer.

Prabhakaran, 50, a resident of Arunagiri road, Pudupalayam, Cuddalore district, has taken a loan and paid installments from ‘AMC, Cookware India’, a company operating in D. Nagar, Chennai and Bangalore. He was shocked because the company sent a notice through the Legal Affairs Commission in Bangalore that even after paying the loan installments in full, he had to pay arrears of 15 thousand, 360 rupees.
‘I was upset because I had paid the loan installments on time and was sent a notice to pay the amount again. Therefore, the company should pay 50,000 rupees as compensation and 25,000 rupees for emotional distress’, he filed a case in the Chennai District South Consumer Court.
The case has been going on since 2017. In this case, Justice Jija, Judicial Member Sivakumar passed the order: The client has suffered emotional distress due to the company’s actions. 25,000 rupees as compensation and 5,000 rupees towards litigation expenses, the concerned company has to pay Prabhakaran. Thus, it is ordered.
