Harry Kane recently failed to score a goal at FC Bayern. Didi Hamann criticized the Englishman. Lothar Matthäus now jumps to the player’s side.

TV expert Lothar Matthäus has defended the recently unsuccessful Bayern top star Harry Kane against doubts and criticism. “He hasn’t disappointed me in the 15 or 16 months he’s been at FC Bayern,” said the 63-year-old on Sky. His expert colleague Dietmar Hamann recently angered the Munich team by saying that striker Kane “still owes proof that he is worth the 100 million” that England’s captain had cost as a transfer fee.

In the spectacular 3-3 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt in the top game of the Bundesliga, Kane failed to score his own goal for the third time in a row and had to leave the pitch in the 72nd minute, apparently injured. “He doesn’t seem to be in full possession of his strength,” stated Matthäus and explained: “Kane has to be 100 percent fit. Then Kane scores. If he’s not fit, he won’t score the goals that we all expect from him .”

Before the game in Frankfurt, Bayern sports director Max Eberl countered Hamann’s criticism with pointed words. “Didi Hamann is like tinnitus. It comes up every three days,” said the 51-year-old, visibly annoyed. Tinnitus is also referred to as ringing in the ears. Kane has scored ten goals in his nine competitive games for Bayern this season.
