Leroy Sané has been targeted by Lothar Matthäus. The record national player is disappointed with the offensive player’s performance.
FC Bayern started the new year successfully with a 1-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga and remains at the top of the table with a four point lead. Apparently not all players were able to convince with the success. Leroy Sané in particular is the focus of criticism.
Lothar Matthäus wrote in his Sky column: “I’m observing a completely different body language from him again. This dissatisfaction, this complaining, these hand movements are not what I expect from him.” Sané currently gives the record national player no reason to recognize him as a decisive player.
“He doesn’t make the difference anymore, not even in every third game. He’s currently more of a follower and no longer the difference player that he should be based on his talent and that’s why he’ll have a hard time,” Matthäus continued. In his opinion, Sané is also one of the professionals who are being questioned at FC Bayern.
In addition to Sané, Matthäus also sees a need for action with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. “I assume that an attempt will be made to find a solution with two of these three players in the summer,” said Matthäus. The club wants to create space for fresh impulses. A possible candidate for the future is Michael Olise, who is already being discussed.
