“For the past five years, Zdena and I have had a more intense relationship,” entrusted the newspaper Aha! composer.
His older sister was widowed the year before. “They were together with their husband Zdenek in a nursing home in Mníšek pod Brdy. Now she is there, unfortunately, alone,” revealed Vondráček.
Zdena and her husband lost their only son when he was only 21 years old. Without Jirka and his family, she would be completely alone. “It is already difficult for her to walk and taking care of her apartment and herself would be too complicated for her. Me or son David sometimes stop there and of course we invited her for the holidays.” Vondráček explained.
After all, Zdena was in the house in Prague’s Hostivař for the holidays already last year. They are still connected. Two years ago, Zdena and Jiří celebrated his seventieth birthday. “Hance’s wife liked the fish soup, as well as the schnitzel. I prepare the Malakov cake according to my mother’s recipe. We gathered together with our children, grandchildren and meditated on the things that befell us,” added Vondráček.
How it was in their family
Zdena’s father is Zdeněk Zettl, the mother of all three siblings was named Blažena. They divorced when Zdena was 10 years old. Then Blažena married the enthusiastic musician Jiří Vondráček the elder and had Helena and Jirka with him.
