The magistrate Juan Pablo Gómez Fierrowho was drawn in the raffle of Senate to elect his position by popular vote, he resigned from his position after 22 years of career in the Judiciary.
Through a letter addressed to the Judiciaryreported that he presented to the Senate his decline to participate in the judicial electionso his resignation will take effect from October 31.
During his time as judge, Gómez Fierro stopped three of the main changes that were promoted during the six-year term of Andrés Manuel López Obrador: the Electrical Lawthat of Hydrocarbons and the National Register of Telephone Users.

He considered that the judicial reform, in force since past September 16is contrary to democratic values and the division of powers.
He highlighted that for 22 years he had “the privilege of holding all the categories that make up the Judicial Branch; always act with loyalty, honesty, independence, impartiality, objectivity and impartiality.”
He stated that national history “will vindicate the great work of the Judicial Branch of the Federation in the protection of human rights and the defense of the constitutional order.”
