MAKOKOU, October 17, 2024 (AGP) – The mission of identification, installation and training of facilitators of Infos-sida clubs in secondary establishments was completed on Wednesday, October 16, by the town of Makokou, head -place in the province of Ogooué-Ivindo (north-eastern Gabon), the AGP learned from the organizers.
This mission is part of the implementation of the information and awareness activities of the provincial multisectoral committees towards the populations.
In the four secondary schools of the provincial capital, notably the Alexandre Sambat high school, the Marc Essia Nsomore evangelical high school, the public high school and the Notre Dame des Victoires high school, a club made up of five students and a teacher was set up. of life and earth sciences (SVT), as a supervisor.
The Provincial Coordinator, on this occasion, provided condoms in order to perpetuate awareness about HIV and sexual and reproductive health in these establishments.
The joint delegation of the provincial coordination of the multisectoral program to combat AIDS, led by Jean Hess Olinga Mba, supported by the Regional Health Directorate (DRS), led by Thierry Bayito Mokoko, began on October 8 with the high school Mohamed Moapa Beotsa from Mekambo, in the Zadié department, before continuing at the Daniel Nna Ekamkam high school in Ovan (M’voung) and at the Daniel Kossé high school in Booué (Lopé).
For the Government, the ideal is to intensify the fight at the local level for a significant reduction in prevalence in the country.
Having increased from 5.2% in 2009, 4.1% in 2012 and 3.6% in 2021, national HIV prevalence continues its downward curve. The goal of UNAIDS is to end the AIDS epidemic.
This tour also allowed the DRS to drop off the kits offered by the First Lady’s “Ma Bannière” foundation in certain medical centers and dispensaries in the province.
