A presentation of the historical novel “The Sword and the Pen” by the famous Azerbaijani writer Mamed Said Ordubadi, translated into Uzbek, took place at the Urgench State University in the city of Urgench, Khorezm region. The translation was carried out within the framework of the project of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev in Uzbekistan.

As Day.Az was informed in the center, the event, held at the Azerbaijan Center of Culture and Literature named after Yusif Vezir Chemenzeminli at the university, was opened by the vice-rector of Urgench State University, Professor Sardar Khojaniyazov. He assessed the publication of the historical novel “The Sword and the Pen” in the Uzbek language as another step taken to strengthen literary and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

An employee of the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Uzbekistan, Kerimulla Mammadzade, spoke about literary and cultural ties between the two countries. Noting that the work of Azerbaijani writers is popular among Uzbek readers, he added that the Cultural Center has translated and published many works into the Uzbek language.

Executive Director of the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Professor Erkin Nuriddinov said that cultural and literary ties between the two countries are at a high level, and emphasized that the Azerbaijan Cultural Center is carrying out targeted work in this area.

Other speakers noted that the historical novel “The Sword and the Pen” in the Uzbek language is a valuable source for studying the history, culture and literature of Azerbaijan.

The novel was translated into Uzbek by Nazira Aliyeva, Mukhsin Khamidov and Rustam Komilov, the editor of the publication and the author of the preface is the Uzbek scientist Abdulla Ulugov. The publication was published by the printing center “Niso nashriyot va matbaa uyi” operating in Tashkent.

The Azerbaijan Cultural Center plans to distribute the book among leading libraries and higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan.
