BENGALURU: A man has been arrested from Haveri in connection with the alleged chanting of pro-Pak slogans by supporters of Congress MP Syed Nasir Hussain at the Vidhan Soudha during his victory celebration. Bayadagi police arrested Mohammad Shafi Nashipudi, a chilli trader in Bayadagi.

Then the accused was handed over to the Vidhan Soudha Police who are investigating the case. However, the police said that the BJP’s allegation that he shouted Pakistan slogans is yet to be proven and his voice samples are being examined. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the Haveri BJP element. Meanwhile, the BJP-Congress war of words continues over the Pakistan slogan controversy. Opposition leader R. Ashoka alleged that the government is not releasing the forensic lab report on this matter.

However, Home Minister G. Parameshwara clarified that the final report has not been released. BJP has decided to continue the protest until strict action is taken. The BJP delegation had also approached Governor Thavarchand Gehlot demanding the dissolution of the government.
