Manchester City beat Burnley 3-1 to remain in 2nd place in the Premier League. Tottenham overcame Brentford to overtake Aston Villa in 4th place.

Manchester City had an easy night at the Etihad against Burnley and thanks to a 3-1 win for the 22nd matchday of the Premier League, they caught Arsenal in 2nd place, where they have an advantage due to a better goal difference, while they also have a game in hand.

Julián Alvarez “cleaned up” for the champions of England, Europe and the world with two goals before 25 minutes of the game were completed. The guests did not manage to resist and the “citizens”, without stepping on the gas, found another goal at the start of the 2nd part thanks to Rodri. The game was decided (with Burnley reducing in stoppage time) and Pep Guardiola’s side were doing maintenance ahead of Monday’s trip to London to take on Brentford.

The latter offered resistance in the mini derby of the English capital against Tottenham, but did not succeed. Angelos Postecoglou’s side put an end to their two-game winless run against Manchester sides and won 3-2 in an upset, catching 4th-placed Aston Villa and moving above them due to a better attack.

The visitors entered the field strongly with Neil Moppe’s goal in the 15th minute, in a spectacular 1st half with chances on both sides and the home side on target. The 2nd half was full of goals too, with Tottenham scoring three in the 1st quarter thanks to Destiny Udoji, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison. A reduction in the score by Ivan Toney who returned in very good form from his suspension did not change the eventual match winner.
