The World Health Organization confirmed that the fighting is intensifying around the Nasser Medical Complex, which is the largest hospital still operating in Gaza, stressing that the complex will not be able to continue operating if more supplies do not reach it.

World Health Organization spokesman Christian Lindmeier said in a press conference held in Geneva: “The situation around Nasser Hospital has become worse, represented by gunfire and fighting around it, and the difficulty for people to reach it or to leave.”
He added, “Permission was not granted to deliver another fuel shipment from the World Health Organization to Nasser Hospital yesterday, Monday, despite the arrival of a medical shipment,” pointing out that “the refusals and delays are part of a pattern that hinders the arrival of humanitarian supplies to hospitals and may make them unable to work.” .
The main hospital, Al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza, had previously been subjected to severe damage and overrun by Zionist occupation forces until it was eventually evacuated.
The United Nations said that some patients were transferred south and that Nasser Hospital had more than three times its capacity for patients.
Lindemeyer described Nasser Hospital as an “important symbol” and said that sometimes surgeries are performed on the floor there. The hospital houses thousands of displaced people, in addition to doctors and patients.
The organization reported earlier that half of the medical staff had fled and that only two doctors out of 24 were still in the hospital.
Work has already stopped in most hospitals in Gaza due to the Zionist bombing and lack of supplies after more than three months of the Zionist war.
The United Nations says that Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis in central Gaza is operating at a minimum while the Zionist occupation army is besieging it.
