For the first time in his career, Pep Guardiola has lost five matches in a row in all competitions. This was the worst of the lot – a complete 0–4 home defeat to Tottenham.
This was City’s third consecutive defeat in the league, and their first home defeat in over two years.
And next Sunday, City travels to Anfield.
– In eight years, we have never experienced this, says manager Pep Guardiola to BBC.
City created the most chances before halftime – Haaland had three opportunities he could have scored from – but Tottenham converted theirs into goals.
James Maddison scored both, first from a beautiful cross by Dejan Kulusevski and then after a major error by Josko Gvardiol.
– This is a special day, says Maddison to Sky Sports.
The home side dominated on their left flank and were overrun on their right.
