Volleyball “Maritsa” (Plovdiv) will once again play in the “Stroitel” hall, emblematic of the club from the City under the hills.
All home matches of the “yellow-blue” from the “Demax+” National Volleyball League and the tournament for the Bulgarian Cup will be held in the hall in the “Karshiyaka” district, which was the team’s home for almost two decades.
The first home match of the champions in Stroitel Hall is this Friday, October 25, at 18:00 B.V. in a Plovdiv derby against “Maritsa 2022” (Plovdiv) from the second round in the NVL.
Thus, after more than 15 years, the “yellow-blue” volleyball players are returning to the cult hall. It is located in the Karshiyaka district of Plovdiv, historically closely connected with Maritsa sports clubs, located north of the river, whose name they bear. Zala Stroitel was opened in the 1980s. Maritsa’s volleyball and basketball teams play their home matches there. The hall was closed in 2008, after which at least seven different halls in and near Plovdiv served as home grounds for “karshiyakaliiki”.
This year the facility was purchased by the vice president of “Maritsa” Svetoslav Slavov. A complete renovation has begun, but the main overhaul, which Slavov intends to subject her to, is yet to come. However, the big volleyball battles are returning there even now, since the beginning of the season, in which “Maritsa” put the first star on its logo on the occasion of winning 10 championship titles in a row.
“Maritsa” returns home! The most important thing for a club like ours is to have its own home, and this is happening now,” said Svetoslav Slavov to volleymaritza.bg.
“Stroitel” Hall is a breeding ground for talent and some of Plovdiv’s greatest athletes have emerged from it. With the president of Maritsa Iliya Dinkov and with Mr. Atanas Rogachev, who is also one of the main sponsors of the club, we want to continue this tradition. Maritsa will play both in her neighborhood “Karshijaka” and in the hall that witnessed a serious part of the club’s history.”
The home matches of “Maritsa” in the Champions League will continue to be played in the “Kolodruma” hall.
