A massive explosion rocked a road near Karachi Airport, Pakistan’s largest city, and an armed separatist group claimed responsibility for an attack in the area on Monday.

Local channel Geo News reported that two people were killed and ten others were injured.
The provincial government of Sindh (southern) said on platform X that a “tanker truck” exploded on the highway leading to the airport.
Meanwhile, the armed separatist group Balochistan Liberation Army said in a statement that it had “targeted a high-level convoy carrying Chinese engineers and investors” coming from Karachi airport.
The Balochistan Liberation Army demands independence for the Pakistani province of Balochistan, which is the country’s largest but poorest region.
The group regularly targets Chinese nationals, arguing that the local Baloch population does not receive its fair share of the wealth achieved by foreign investors.
Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority said flights from Karachi were continuing “as normal” and that “agencies were investigating the cause of the blast.”
