“I got something out of it again”
Max Eberl blabs at Bayern-PK
November 21, 2024 – 6:51 p.mReading time: 2 min.
Max Eberl revealed information at the FC Bayern Munich press conference that was not previously known. That’s how it came about.
For Bayern, the eleventh matchday starts on Friday evening. The league leaders welcome FC Augsburg at 8:30 p.m. for a neighborhood duel. With a home win, FCB would expand its lead over current first pursuer RB Leipzig to eight points.
Before the Bundesliga game, coach Vincent Kompany and sports director Max Eberl answered questions from journalists in the usual matchday press conference. The Bayern coach explained, among other things, that he and his team wanted to continue their successful streak before the two-week Bundesliga break. “We want to win and bring back the performance we did before the international break.”
And Eberl? He seemed to be in a good mood, occasionally making casual remarks or joking with the press present. In addition to sporting topics – Eberl praised, among other things, the good development of central defender Kim Min-jae – he also spoke about organizational issues at the end of the press conference.
Because the last question was about the upcoming winter break, during which Bayern Munich will not have a winter training camp this year. After a holiday over the holidays, Manuel Neuer, Harry Kane and Co. will start their preparations in Munich in January. A test match has already been announced – on January 6th against RB Salzburg. The reporter wanted to know from the sports director how this decision came about.
Eberl explained it like this: “We won’t do a training camp in winter because time is simply too short for us. We want to save travel time, invest it in training time, rather in one more day of vacation.” And then he suddenly revealed something that hadn’t been known before: “We have arranged two test matches: against Greuther Fürth and against Salzburg.”
The 51-year-old quickly realized his faux pas. “Have we not announced Fürth yet?” Eberl asked his press spokesman. He replied: “Yes, now.” Max Eberl then laughed at himself and just said: “Yes, okay now. Oh dear, I’ve come up with something again. The contracts probably haven’t even been signed yet.” He then made it official that the game against the second division team should also take place on January 6th. On January 11th, Bayern will continue their league game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
How is Kim Min-jae’s development impacting FC Bayern Munich’s defensive structure this season?
Interview between the Time.news Editor and Max Eberl, Sports Director of FC Bayern Munich
Time.news Editor: Good evening, Max! Thanks for joining us today. After the recent press conference, it seems like you were in high spirits. What was the atmosphere like, and how do you feel about the upcoming match against FC Augsburg?
Max Eberl: Good evening! Yes, it was a great atmosphere at the press conference. We have a solid build-up to the game, and there’s a sense of excitement in the air. It’s a neighborhood duel, and with the way the team is performing, we’re confident about expanding our lead in the league.
Time.news Editor: You mentioned wanting to maintain your successful streak before the upcoming Bundesliga break. What specific aspects of the team’s performance do you think are crucial to sustain that momentum?
Max Eberl: It’s all about consistency and focus. We’ve had a solid defensive structure, particularly with the development of Kim Min-jae in central defense. His integration into the squad has been seamless, and I believe that’s key. Offensively, we need to capitalize on our opportunities and keep pressing forward.
Time.news Editor: Speaking of Kim Min-jae, you seemed genuinely pleased with his development during your remarks. Can you elaborate on what aspects of his game you think have evolved the most?
Max Eberl: Absolutely! Kim has shown tremendous growth, especially in his decision-making under pressure. His positioning and ability to read the game have improved significantly. It’s crucial for a central defender to not only disrupt the opponent’s play but also to start our own attacks. He’s doing both exceptionally well.
Time.news Editor: You also touched on some organizational issues at the end of the press conference. Can you share a bit more about what those entail, and how they might impact the club going forward?
Max Eberl: Of course. It’s important for us to keep optimizing our processes both on and off the pitch. We’re continually evolving as a club, which involves refining our scouting networks, player development programs, and communication strategies. Effective organization is crucial, especially as we’re navigating a busy season and aiming for success across all competitions.
Time.news Editor: It seems like you’re balancing quite a few responsibilities! With the upcoming break, how do you plan to keep the team’s morale high and ensure they return energized?
Max Eberl: Maintaining morale is essential. We’ll be working on individualized training programs during the break, ensuring each player is focused but also gets some time to recharge. We also have some team-building activities planned. A happy team is a successful team, and we want to keep that spirit alive.
Time.news Editor: Max, thank you for sharing your insights today. It’s clear that there’s a lot of dedication behind the scenes at Bayern Munich, and we wish you and the team the best of luck in the upcoming match!
Max Eberl: Thank you! I appreciate the kind words, and we’re excited about what’s to come. Let’s hope for a great show on the pitch!
