In which, four foundations dedicated to the children of our country will be able to continue their important work. Below we are going to tell you all the details!
Happy McDay 2024 fulfilling dreams and goals
After the collection of Happy McDay 2024 on October 9, in which it was possible to convert 397,759 Big Mac equivalent to Q12,330,529.00. McDonald’s delivered the funds to four institutions and below we will tell you how the funds were distributed:
- Ronald McDonald Children’s Foundation: Q6,777,995.00, this will provide continuity to the operation of the four houses (three in the capital and one in Cobán), benefiting more than 4,500 children and their families.
- Aldo Castañeda Foundation: Q2,624,440.00, the resources will allow open heart surgeries to be performed on seven children, electrophysiology procedures on twelve patients and much more.
- Ceiling: Q1,843,615.00, which would build 60 progressive homes with rainwater harvesting systems in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala and Totonicapán, benefiting 60 families and more than 190 children.
- Puente: Q1,084,479.00, the funds will be allocated to the comprehensive Centros Nútreme project, which will include water and rain harvesters, production of chicken coops and family gardens.
Rodrigo Cofiño, McDonald’s Director of Operations indicated: We are very satisfied to contribute to the well-being of Guatemalan communities. The results of this Happy McDía are a reflection of the commitment we share with our clients and with the country’s children. Thanks to every person who bought a Big Mac, today we are changing lives.
The first Big Mac sold in Guatemala
There was great excitement in all the branches in the country, since on October 9 the sale of Big Macs and the official opening took place at McDonald’s restaurant No. 100. Where there was the participation of Rodrigo Cofiño, Patty Cofiño and all the staff who transmitted a lot of joy. What a chilero!
Banco Industrial was the customer who made the first purchase of the day, purchasing 32,258 Big Macs, thus demonstrating his support for this noble cause. After that moment, the sale of the menus formally began in all restaurants in Guatemala.
A tradition to celebrate with the family
As part of the support to Guatemalan families and children, in 1999 the first Happy McDay was celebrated in Guatemala. An activity in which everything raised is donated to different programs that benefit the country’s children and where all people come not only to taste a delicious hamburger, but to support through each purchase.
The president of McDonald’s Mesoamérica, Álvaro Cofiño expressed: “This activity was very special and important for my mother and now it is for us, because in this way we can give the community inspiration, provide hope and transform lives.”
