“As a contribution on our part, the spokespersons for the illegal Armed Structures of Medellín and Valle de Aburrá, in prison at the La Paz de Itagüí Prison we declare the suspension of all types of hostilities, confrontation or disputes; consequences that will be evident and verifiable by the citizens and the authorities, such effects have begun to be evidenced in the reduction of some significant indicators in the insecurity of the territory,” the armed organizations declared in a statement.

The news comes hours after EL COLOMBIANO revealed that the National Government has ready an official commission with which they will sit down to talk with these gangs in a socio-legal process.

In an interview with this newspaper – which will be published in its entirety in this Sunday’s edition – the high commissioner for peace, Danilo Rueda, confirmed that he and his team have been holding private meetings with the delegates of the main armed groups in the metropolitan area. .

Said commission will be made up of experts such as the ex-commissioner for truth, Lucía González; the senator of the Historical Pact Isabel Cristina Zuleta, and the former Secretary of the Government of Antioquia and former Peace Advisor, Jorge Mejía Martínez.

Once these dialogues officially begin, the armed groups that signed the protocol and their delegates will be known.

For now, Rueda said that there are around 16 leaders who have already joined the cessation of hostilities.

“We have already talked to about 90% of the bands and we hope that they will all join. There would be about 12,000 demobilized,” said the high commissioner in dialogue with this newspaper.
