The Baku Book Center hosted 90th birthday party on the birthday of the Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, pianist and teacher, professor Elmira Safarova.
According to Day.Az, the event, organized as part of the XVI International Music Festival of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, was attended by cultural figures, students, colleagues, friends and family members of the musician.
Director of the Baku Book Center at the opening Gunel Anargyzi described Elmira Safarova as a unique and caring teacher, an invaluable friend, and a true patriot of her country.
The Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan shared their memories of Elmira Safarova Murad Huseynovrector of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and the USSR Farhad BadalbeyliPhD in Art History Ulkar Talibzade.
It was noted that Elmira Safarova made a great contribution to the development of national culture and reached great creative heights.
Elmira Safarova (09/16/1934 – 01/11/1997) was born in the family of a prominent oil engineer, twice winner of the State Prize Yusif Safarov. Since childhood, she was fond of music and received her first education in this field at the music school at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory named after U. Hajibeyli (now BMA). Then she studied at the BMA and continued her postgraduate studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Laureate of the first Transcaucasian competition of music performers (1960). Since 1961, she taught at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory and made a great contribution to the art of music and the training of specialists in piano performance. She performed with great success at concerts both solo and as part of ensembles.
Elmira Safarova’s students today continue her path with concert, performing and teaching activities.
Performed by musicians, including students of Elmira Safarova, works by Azerbaijani and world composers were performed at the evening.
At the end of the evening, Elmira Safarova’s sister, academician, musicologist Zemfira Safarova On behalf of the family members, she thanked the organizers and guests for the respect shown to the memory of the musician and teacher.
