Friends of the philosopher and professor Christos Giannaras who died recently yesterday morning performed at the Holy Ag. Charalambous (near his residence) in Nea Smyrni, Religious and Scientific Memorial. In this Church, he and his friends attended church every Sunday, who also attended this Memorial.
Among those present were the late minister and MP Angelos Syrigos, the late minister Georgios Anomeritis, the honorary ambassador Periklis Nearchos, the academician Antonis Kounadis (late President of the Academy of Athens) and Emmanuel Gdoutos, the MP Charalambos Katsivardas, the author and the doctor. Georgios Papakonstantinou, NTUA professor Stathis Theotokoglou, the highest Judicial Officers, University. Professors, representatives from Top. Self-Government and other Authorities. Also present were the archivist of the Church Father Ioannis and several other parishioners, friends of the deceased, who took care of the organization and celebration of the Memorial as well as the coffee and refreshments that followed.
Professor Cleo Logothetis gave a short speech, and A. Kounadis was the main speaker of the meeting, who said the following among other things:
“Those of us who were lucky enough to meet him and have a close experience of him, we will turn our thoughts gratefully to everything beautiful, wonderful and true that he has bequeathed to us with his theological, philosophical, educational and sociological work the -valuable.
“The friends of Agios Charalambos greet him with special feelings and respect on his long journey to eternity. They thank him and are grateful for his valuable contribution to Orthodoxy, our Culture, Greek society. The offering was also a rich and unique legacy for future generations. The Chr. Giannaras wrote history by leaving an indelible stamp on the social events of our country”.
