MENA: IMF forecasts growth of 2.1% in 2024, and 4% next year
Washington – Economies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region are expected to grow by 2.1% in 2024, before jumping to 4.0% in 2025, according to forecasts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), published Tuesday.
In its report on the “Global Economic Outlook” published on the occasion of the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, the international financial institution revises downwards its growth forecasts published last April for the MENA region from -0 .6% for 2024 and -0.2% for 2025.
Titled: “Policy Changes, Growing Threats”, the report expects inflation to stand at 14.8% in 2024 in the MENA region, then to 11.6% in 2025, before being brought back to 6.5% in 2029.
Furthermore, real production per capita in the region is expected to stand at 0.2% in 2024 and 2.2% in 2025.
At the global level, the IMF expects economic growth to stabilize at 3.2% in 2024 and 2025.
