Message analysis, evidence gathering, psychological counseling… The rise of anti-harassment apps

by time news

Imagine a bear hiding in your phone. “It symbolizes both aggression and protection and always reacts when we attack its young,” observes Christian Guillon, president of the start-up SafeBear. It is also with his son Jérémy Guillon, now 22 years old, that the entrepreneur launched his candidacy at the beginning of September to fight against cyber harassment. The plague that struck Jérémy on Facebook in the 2010s takes place in the Guillon family but also, and increasingly, in our society. According to a WHO study from March 2024, one in six young people would be victims.

Tested this autumn in thirteen high schools in Occitania, the SafeBear application (annual subscription 48 euros) aims to analyze, in complete confidentiality and using artificial intelligence, all the messages received on your personal accounts (X, Instagram, Snapchat, dating sites, etc.) and collect the most toxic ones to possible legal proceedings.
