The Argentinian Leo Messi, forward of Inter Miamiis one of the three nominees for best rookie of the year in the American Soccer League (MLS), while his compatriots Luciano Acosta (Cincinnati) and Thiago Almada (Atlanta Utd.) and the French-Gabonian Denis Bouanga (LAFC) aspire to the most valuable player award.

Messi, former Barcelona and PSG player, concluded his first season in North American soccer last Saturday with a record of eleven goals in fourteen games in all competitions and one in six MLS games, a tournament in which Inter Miami finished penultimate in the East and out of the playoffs. However, his arrival has revolutionized American football.

Meanwhile, Acosta is the second top scorer in MLS with 17 goals, three behind Bouanga, and fourth in assists, with 14, five behind Almada.
