According to the IDF spokesman, two rockets were fired from Lebanese territory towards Israeli territory following reports of mortar fire at the Metula area from the Lebanese border. The (interim) prime minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, condemned the rocket fire and stated that the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces will investigate the circumstances and arrest those responsible. The IDF spokesman said this evening (Thursday) that following a report of mortar fire at the Metula area from the Lebanese border, after scans, two rocket launches from Lebanese territory towards Israeli territory were detected.

At the same time, it was reported that the (interim) prime minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, condemned the rocket fire from southern Lebanon: “The Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces will increase investigations to find out the circumstances and arrest those who carried it out.”

He added: “Lebanon firmly opposes any military escalation from its territory and the use of Lebanese territory that would shake the existing stability. Lebanon is committed to UN Resolution 1701.” (Photo: Archive).
