Former US first lady is being considered to face Trump due to President Joe Biden’s unpopularity.
Joe Biden’s increasing disadvantage in the polls against his increasingly likely Republican rival in this year’s US presidential election, Donald Trump, is leading Democrats to consider alternative candidates, most recently former first lady Michele Obama.
The idea of alternative Michelle Obama, wife of former President Barack, began to circulate in the halls of Congress when, last November, David Axelrod wrote on the social network X that President Biden should consider his re-candidacy, taking into account the very weak Popularity indexes and polls were beginning to show Trump as the best positioned to return to the White House after the November 2024 presidential election.
“Only Biden can make that decision. If he stays in the Democratic primary race, he will be the party’s nominee. What he needs to do is think about whether that’s sensible; whether that’s in his best interest or in the best interest of the country,” wrote Axelord, a former adviser to Barack Obama who continues to be a key strategist for Democrats.
