The son of the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, Mick F-1 competed in the 2021 and 2022 seasons for the “Haas” team, but is currently a reserve pilot for the “Mercedes” team and a driver for the “Alpine” team in the “Endurance” world championship.
It has already been announced that “Audi” will take over the “Sauber” team, which will continue to compete under its own name until the end of 2025.
As Binotto told the Frankfurt “Allgemeine Zeitung” newspaper on Monday, Schumacher is one of the candidates for the remaining place in the team alongside Nico Hilkenberg from the next season.
“We see him as our potential driver,” former Ferrari driver and manager Binotto said of 25-year-old Mick Schumacher. “I know his potential, his strengths and weaknesses. He is a consistent and generally fast driver, works in the best interests of the team and works hard.”
As other candidates for a place in the team, the current “Sauber” drivers Finnish Valteri Botas and Chinese Zhou Guanyu are mentioned.
“Sauber” is the only F-1 team that has not won a single point this season.
